2. Place a quarter at the point where all the lines intersect on the paper. Trace the coin. The size of the circle is dependent on the size of the square.
3. Mark each corner with an x. The x will go to the left on of the creased line on the top of paper and to the right on the bottom of the paper.
4. On the upper right side of the paper, on the other side of the creased line, print the number 1.
5. Decorate both sides of the pinwheel. Students can create patterns, use solid colors, or draw pictures on the pinwheel. Students are able to use their imagination for decorating the pinwheel.
6. Cut the creased lines to the circle in the middle of the paper.
7. Poke a hole at the four spots marked with an x. Use a hole punch or a sharp pencil.
8. Poke a hole in the straw about 5 cm from one end of the straw. Use a hole punch or a sharp pencil.
9. Bring the four corners to the center of the paper and put the paper fastener through all four holes. Next pierce the center hole with the fastener and attach to the straw. Open the fastener by flattening the ends in opposite directions.
